ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES - WE KNOW OUR RESPONSIBILITY
The guideline for Sormat concerning environmental issues is the ISO 14001 system. The world’s most widely used standard on environmental issues provides a systematic way of controlling our impact on the environment
in all our actions.
At Sormat we constantly seek to develop our processes in order to improve our environmental performance. Not only we are committed to fulfilling all environmental requirements prescribed by laws and regulations, but
we also try to use natural resources economically. In 2007 Sormat introduced a new heating boiler, which uses a renewable energy source (wood) as fuel. As a result, we produce no carbon dioxide. Our energy consumption has also decreased by approximately 5 %.
In recent years, Sormat has also developed its waste sorting to even exceed the demands stated in the ISO 14001 standard. Our efficient waste sorting has radically diminished the amount of unsorted waste as more and more
material is being recycled.
All Sormat products are designed and manufactured according to customer demands, taking the environmental impact during the life cycle of the product into account. Manufacturing processes are planned and carried out so as to minimize our environmental impact.
